Soon, tourists visiting Orlando they will be able to have a completely new experience that will change amusement park entertainment forever. This is what Universal promises with Epic Universe the complex’s fourth theme park in Florida.
Announced in 2019, the park is still under construction and, apparently, should open in 2025. Work was interrupted in July 2020 due to the pandemic and resumed in March 2021.
“Our vision for Epic Universe is historic,” Tom Williams, president and CEO of Universal Parks & Resorts, said at the time of the announcement. “It will build on everything we’ve done and become the most immersive and innovative theme park we’ve ever created.”
By the first days of October 2023, at least three roller coasters and a series of buildings were already forming the park’s construction site.

Size
Universal announced that Epic Universe will be located on land measuring more than three million m² which will also cover hotels, restaurants, shops and entertainment centers.
This means that the new park will be bigger than Universal’s entire complex already in operation which totals around 2.9 million m² and includes other parks, shops and hotels.
Speaking of accommodations, Universal will be adding two thousand hotel rooms on behalf of the park and a fleet of electric buses will transport visitors to the site, which is approximately 5 km from the current Universal Orlando Resort area. The information was shared by Mark Woodbury, CEO of Universal Destinations & Experiences, at an investor conference, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
With the new park, the CEO also revealed that the objective is for visitors to extend their stay at the complex for a week, keeping in mind visits to Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure, the Volcano Bay water park and the CityWalk entertainment center.
The expectation is that Epic will create more than 14 thousand permanent jobs, in addition to the thousands created during development.
Cutting-edge technology
The park is expected to be Universal’s most technologically advanced. According to CEO Mark Woodbury, the location will make use of facial recognition which will allow visitors a barrier-free experience.
The attractions don’t escape either, as they will be used robotic technology it’s from drones .
Thematic areas
The Epic Universe will be divided into four themed areas. One of them will be the Super Nintendo World confirmed by CEO Mark Woodbury himself.
It is worth remembering that Super Nintendo World has existed at Universal Studios Japan since 2021 and also opened at Universal Studios Hollywood in February 2023.
According to Woodbury, the four areas should be surrounded by a nucleus, made up of landscapes, attractions and food services.
Location
The park is being built south of Sand Lake Road and west of Universal Boulevard. It will be located approximately 5 km away from the current parks and hotels in the Universal complex.

Outside of Orlando, a new roller coaster based on the Fast and Furious franchise is already under construction at the California park, just as the company announced the construction of a playground in Frisco, Texas.
