Three people were arrested yesterday, Friday 14 May, in Copenhagen, after the violence episodes during a demonstration in support of the Palestinians. Some of the protesters threw stones at the Israeli security forces and the embassy, informed the Police and local media.
Police were to remain on the scene overnight, Inspector Pau Caltoft told public television. Denmark DR, speaking of three arrests.
The demonstration in front of the Embassy of Israel in Copenhagen was dissolved due to the “disruption” of public order, the police of Denmark, by Twitter, clarifying that he had mobilized strong forces.
According to the media and as relayed by ΑΠΕ-ΜΠΕ, about 4,000 people took part in the mobilization. A group of 50 to 100 people started throwing stones against the embassy building and against the police.
DR reported that police used tear gas and batons to disperse the protesters.
“Everyone has the right to freedom of expression in Denmark,” said Jeep Kofol, Denmark’s foreign minister, on Twitter. “I condemn it clearly and strongly,” he insisted.
The demonstration, with the general slogan “Solidarity in Palestine”, was organized amid the escalation of violence in Israel and the Palestinian Territories. The participants demanded that the Danish government condemn Israel’s actions.
