Erasmo Carlos and Elza Soares receive posthumous Latin Grammy nominations

The artists Erasmus Charles and Elza Soares received posthumous nominations for Latin Grammy . The Latin Recording Academy revealed the nominees for the 25th edition of the award this Tuesday (17) and among the Brazilians, Anitta and Xande De Pillars stood out in the main categories.

Written by Erasmo Carlos, the posthumous album “Erasmo Esteves”, released in May of this year, is competing in the category Best Rock or Alternative Music Album in Portuguese. With previously unreleased compositions, the tracks feature collaborations with Tim Bernardes, Marina Sena, Xênia França and more.

The singer passed away at the age of 81, in November 2022. Before his death, the artist was hospitalized at Hospital Barra D’Or, in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro, since Monday (21) with a case of edemigenic syndrome, a disease that retains fluids in the bloodstream.

Elza Soares, on the other hand, received the nomination for “No Tempo da Intolerância”, an album released in June 2023, almost 1 year and a half after her death, which occurred in January 2022. The album competes in the category Best Album of Brazilian Popular Music/Brazilian Afro Portuguese Music.

As mentioned, Anitta and Xande are competing in two main categories of the award. The “Mil Veces” singer is competing for the Recording of the Year for the composition of the aforementioned song.
