Putin and Erdogan are expected to discuss the mechanisms that will allow exports through safe sea lanes, of cereals from Ukraine that have been blocked due to the Russian military operation in that country, with the risk of causing a global food crisis.

The Russian Defense Ministry had announced on Friday that a “final text” would be ready soon to allow the export of grain from Ukraine.

During his meeting with Erdogan today, Putin also referred to the “many issues” surrounding the settlement of the conflict in Syria, as well as “the other important issue” of the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Since 2016, Turkey has carried out four military operations in northern Syria, occupying areas of hundreds of kilometers. Erdogan says Ankara will target YPG again, which it considers a terrorist organization, despite the objections of Russia and Iran.
