Greece is not important in NATO, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday, continuing the aggressive and inflammatory crescendo of recent days, taking back the baton from his partner and leader of the Gray Wolves, Devlet Bakhceli.
“NATO is strong if Turkey is present; NATO is not strong without Turkey,” he told reporters after Friday prayers in Istanbul.
Greece’s negative statements to NATO about Turkey cannot damage the ties between Ankara and the alliance, Erdogan stressed.
“Greece’s negative approach to NATO does not weaken Turkey-NATO relations,” he added.
It is characteristic that the Turkish media “play” the news as “Erdogan’s response to the provocations and rhetoric of Athens”.
Aggressive statements against Greece yesterday the representative of Erdogan’s Justice and Development Party (AKP), Omer Celik, had also done.
