Erdogan: He will again be a presidential candidate for the 2023 elections

Officials of his party, therefore, welcomed this announcement with applause while rhythmically shouting the name of the president.

At the same time, Erdogan reiterated that the elections will be held in mid-June 2023 and then addressed the leader of the largest opposition party, Kemal Kilicdaroglu. “Stop the evasions (…) You can no longer postpone the issue of your candidacy,” said Erdogan, who has ruled Turkey continuously since 2003, first as prime minister and then as president.

THE opposition coalition, consisting of six partieshas not yet nominated its candidate in the presidential election.

Nevertheless, according to a poll conducted in April by the institute MetropollErdogan could be defeated in the second round of elections by many of his potential opponents.
