Erdogan in Biden: Learn the history of the Armenians well and then speak

Recep Tayyip Erdogan launched a fierce attack, with unprecedented characterizations, against Joe Biden, on the occasion of the latter’s statements about the Armenian genocide.

The Turkish president said the statements were irrelevant to Ankara and urged his US counterpart to “learn history well” first.

“We are not interested in the demands of the Armenians, which are allegedly recognized by the administrations of various countries. This is how we deal with the statements of US President Biden. Mr. Biden must study and know very well the history of the Armenians. “We can forgive him for trying to challenge Turkey without knowing it,” he said after speaking at a cabinet meeting in Ankara.

It is noted that Biden paid tribute to the memory of the Armenians who were killed in the Ottoman Empire in 1915.

In a first reaction, the Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning Biden, who again described the events of the early 20th century in the Ottoman Empire as the Armenian genocide.

A year ago, Biden became the first US president to call the events of the early 20th century in the Ottoman Empire the Armenian Genocide. His predecessors in the White House avoided using the term.

Ankara categorically rejects this characterization of the events of 1915 and states that it was not a genocide, but a fratricidal war, the victims of which were both Armenians and Turks.
