The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, will visit Tirana tomorrow, Thursday, October 10, where he will participate in the inauguration of the new Namazgja mosque (Namazgah in Turkish) of the Albanian capital. The mosque, the construction of which began in 2015, is characterized as the largest in the Balkans, has four minarets 35 meters high, each with its structure reminiscent of Ottoman architecture. Around the mosque will be facilities that will function as a cultural center, a library, an exhibition space, a conference hall, a “museum of coexistence” and a Koranic learning school. The Muslim Community of Albania issued a statement thanking the “brotherly Turkish people”, President Erdogan and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama “for making possible the construction of the new Grand Mosque of Tirana”.
