Erdogan repeats the ‘Mitsotakis yoke’ and threatens the status of the islands: ‘He will find out’

New challenges from the president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who attacked from the stage of the state TRT, during his interview, against Greece and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis:

“We had dinner with Mitsotakis in Turkey. At that dinner, I told him: ‘Let’s not bring a third country between us from now on.’ Three weeks passed. He gave his speech to the American Congress. From there he returned to Davos. He did similar things. You are a politician and I am a politician too. You must know this. When you take any negative step against Turkey, my first job is to have strong things to explain to my people. Exercise Efes drove them crazy “, Erdogan said.

In addition, he repeated the “Mitsotakis joke” and referred to the relationship of the USA with Greece: “After this, it is impossible for me to meet again with Mitsotakis. This is not only in words. There are 9 (5+4) US bases in Greece . There were 5 of them, 4 of them are new. They are trying to put them on the islands, they say they are made against Russia. Greece is trying to prevent us from buying planes for our security needs.”

He added: “In such a situation, which is against the Lausanne and Paris Agreements, we as Turkey should say ‘Greece do what you want’. As Turkey, we will do whatever is necessary when the time comes. . Mitsotakis probably does not know that the sovereignty of these islands was given on the condition that they remain under a civilian regime. He will find out.”

He then moved on to the issue of the F-16s and the condition set by the US for acquiring them: “During the meeting we exchanged views on our bilateral relations and regional issues. Then wherever that came from came to the fore the issues concerning Greece. Such conditions do not apply to Turkey, nor should they be done. This clear stance of the administration, I saw as positive. As the US administration makes this support visible, we see that some focused on Congress are accelerating their efforts to block our demand for F-16s. I said I believe a positive decision can be made,” Erdogan said.
