Erdogan returns to Turkey: Does not attend Glasgow Climate Summit

THE Recep Tayyip Erdogan, returned by air to Turkey early this morning, instead of traveling to the UK for UN Climate Summit, The state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

The Turkish presidency did not give no official explanation for the unexpected return of the head of state, broadcasts AMPE.

A Turkish government official who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity said there were problems with the protocol regarding the participation of Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the summit, without giving any other details.

The only written statement of the summit will be made by the President of China Xi Jinping

It is noted that the President of China, the Xi Jinping, will be the only one to write a message to the other leaders participating in the climate summit, according to the program announced by the UN.

Mr Xi’s position will be posted on official website of COP26 today, after speeches by other leaders, including US President Joe Biden and French President Emanuel Macron.
