Erdogan sets up memorial service in Hagia Sophia for the murder of Ismail Haniya – National mourning in Turkey

A symbolic ceremony in Hagia Sophia will take place today Friday in memory of Ismail Hanias. In particular, the ceremony will take place during the noon prayer, almost simultaneously with Haniya’s funeral in Doha. The ceremony will be attended by the president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, while the prayer will be led by the head of the government’s Directorate of Religious Affairs, Ali Erbas. At the same time, by the decision of President Erdogan, a national mourning was declared in Turkey today for the assassination of Ismail Haniya in Tehran. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Haled Meshaal, deputy head of the Hamas Political Bureau, in Doha, the capital of Qatar, and expressed his condolences. Also present at the meeting were Ismail Haniya’s sons Abdusalam and Hemam.
