Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that due to Turkey’s geographical position, it cannot turn its back on either the East or the West. Expressing the belief that they should maintain strong relations with the East and the West at the same time, “like the double-headed eagle, which is the symbol of the Great Seljuk State,” Erdogan said it was in their mutual interest to harmonize relations with the ally those in NATO, the United States, due to changing regional and global dynamics.
At the same time, speaking at the 13th Conference of Diplomacy, on the occasion of an event for the “pre-holiday”, as 2023 marks the 500th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Erdogan officially announced that the drilling rig Abdulhamit will start work on Tuesday .
“Until today we have not allowed transactions to take place in our jurisdictions without our participation, and we will not do so in the future. The gas discovery we made in the Black Sea was the first result of our persistent efforts. Tomorrow our 4th rig, named Abdulhamit Khan, will start its mission from Mersin’s Tasuju port,” Erdogan noted.
According to the Turkish news agency Anadolu, the Turkish president added that “to date, we have not allowed transactions to take place in our jurisdictions without our participation, and we will not do so in the future.”
He then asserted that his country is working for stability in the Aegean, Eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea regions.
Recalling that next year they will celebrate the 500th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Erdogan stated that Turkish diplomacy looks to the future with confidence in the 100th anniversary of the Republic, with the slogan “rooted past, bright future”.
