Erdogan to Putin: Immediate ceasefire, pave the way for peace in Ukraine

The Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged him Vladimir Putin to declare a cessation of fire in Ukraineto open humanitarian corridors and sign a peace agreement.

The Turkish president’s office reports, according to Reuters: “President Erdogan, who said an immediate ceasefire would not only alleviate humanitarian concerns in the region, but also provide an opportunity to seek a political solution, reiterated his call for ‘paving the way for peace together.’

“Erdogan stressed the importance of taking urgent measures to reach a ceasefire, open humanitarian corridors and sign a peace agreement.”

What did Putin answer?

The Kremlin said Putin had told Erdogan that Russia would suspend its military operation only if Ukraine stopped fighting and that Moscow’s demands were met, adding that the operation was planned.
