Erdogan urged to “teach Israel a powerful lesson” for Gaza

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the international community supposedly should “teach Israel a powerful and deterrent lesson” because of the strikes by his army on the territory of Gaza, from where the radical Islamists are firing thousands of unguided rockets into Israel. The corresponding statement was published on Erdogan’s Telegram channel.

He said that he had a telephone conversation with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani: they discussed Turkish-Iranian relations and the Arab-Israeli conflict.

The Turkish President called for the unity of the Islamic world on the Palestine-Israel conflict.

“The international community must also teach Israel a powerful and deterrent lesson in the face of these reckless attacks,” Erdogan said.

The escalation began in early May 2021 after the clashes between the Palestinians and the Israeli military in Jerusalem near the Al-Aqsa mosque. Formally, the clashes began due to the fact that a court in Israel ruled: in the Sheikh Jarrah quarter, some of the houses will be confiscated from Arab families who have been living there for decades and give them to Jewish settlers. The position of the court is that until 1948 they belonged to these Israeli families. The Palestinians began to resent. From May 10 to May 17, radicals from Gaza launched about 3,100 rockets at Israel. The Air Force responded with over a thousand strikes in the sector. In Gaza, nearly 200 people were said to have died and more than 1,000 were injured. Israel speaks of 10 casualties among its citizens, and one soldier killed.
