Eric Dane reveals diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (she)

The American actor Eric Dane announced on Thursday (10) that was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (She), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

“I am grateful to have my beloved family by my side while we sail in this next chapter,” Grey’s Anatomy actor said in a statement to People.

“I am fortunate to keep working and I look forward to returning to the set of ‘Euphoria’ next week. I kindly ask you to give me privacy and my family during this time,” the actor told the publication.

It is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects the nerve cells of the brain and spinal cord that make the upper and lower muscles of the body function, according to Als Association, a non -profit organization that works to research the disease and offer resources to people living with it. Currently, there is no known cure.

In “Euphoria”, Dane plays Cal Jacobs, the problematic father of Jacob Eordi’s character in HBO drama, which is expected to start production of his third season on April 14.

He reached fame as charming Dr. Mark “McSteamy” Sloan in “Gray’s Anatomy” from 2006 to 2012. Dane credits also include roles in movies like “Bad Boys: Until the End.”

Dane has been married to actress Rebecca Gayheart since 2004. The couple has two children.
