The actress Erin Moriarty known for playing the superheroine Luz-Estrela in “The Boys “, decided to leave Instagram. According to a post made by the actress herself, she made the decision after controversy over her appearance involving presenter Megyn Kelly.
In a recent episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show“, the presenter showed photos of Moriarty during a speech about society’s obsession with aesthetic procedures. During the program, Kelly said that the actress decided to “completely change her face” when comparing two photos of Moriarty.
“Apparently, this is real,” said Kelly during the recording of the episode, showing one photo after another. “She really did this to herself.”
In a post made on her Instagram profile, Moriarty said that “we are all subject to bullying in our lives”, but that she was “horrified”. In the report, the actress said that she was unable to eat or drink anything before the interview and that she expected the judgmental comments for “appearing 10 kilos lighter”.
“I saw the comments, scathing enough to simply remove the comments from my posts. But this is turning into harassment,” she wrote. “The only reason I'm not deactivating my profile is to leave this text here. But consider my profile deactivated, I will give it an indefinite amount of time [nas redes sociais].”
Also according to the publication, Moriarty said that Kelly used a photo taken “a decade ago” and that the second photo was from an event where she used makeup for “extreme contouring”.
CNN reached out to Kelly's representatives to find out whether the former Fox News host reached out to Moriarty before speaking about her on her show. So far, the report has not received a response.
“There is no excuse for these horrible statements, the verbal abuse that I had to delete and the genuinely false information that is being used to perpetuate the message of exhibitionist feminism,” Moriarty wrote in the text posted on her Instagram.
“I am horrified by the backlash, the reductive assumptions and the aforementioned video, which is the prime example of such harassment. This broke my heart,” wrote the actress.
CNN has reached out to Erin Moriarty for advice and is awaiting a response.
In addition to “The Boys”, Moriarty also participated in series such as “True Detective” and “Jessica Jones”.
