Actor Ernie Hudson, famous for playing one of the Ghostbusters in the first films of the franchise, spoke about the remake of the story released in 2016 and said that the result was “disappointing” for fans.
“The fans were really invested in the story and the characters and I think it was disappointing. I liked the film, but I think it wasn’t what the fans expected,” he said in an interview with Independent.
The “Ghostbusters” remake was directed by Paul Feig and starred Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, and brought a new version of the already known story starring female protagonists. However, the film was criticized by many fans of the franchise.
Hudson made a cameo appearance in the 2016 film, and explained his opinion: “I'm a fan of Paul Feig, so I don't have anything negative to say about him. Aside from: I don't quite understand why you would do a remake, you know what I mean? Just make another movie.”
The actor also highlighted that the protagonists of the remake are “brilliantly funny on their own”.
Ernie Hudson returns to play his character Winston Zeddmore in the film that continues the Ghostbusters franchise, “Ghostbusters: Ice Apocalypse” — scheduled to premiere on April 11 in Brazil.
