The Estonian Foreign Ministry announced today that it has called on the Moscow assistant to explain an incident of Estonia’s territorial waters by a Russian ship. Foreign Minister Margos Tshkna reports in a post on the X platform that the Russian -based Estonian government was formally expressed in the Russian -based protest for this “serious and unacceptable” breach of the maritime borders. The Estonian Armed Forces have announced that a Russian border guard had illegally entered 500 meters within the territorial waters of Estonia on Saturday. In May, the Foreign Ministry in Tallinn had announced that a Russian fighter aircraft had violated Estonia’s airspace. But this was the first denounced of Estonia’s territorial waters by a Russian ship. Tensions between the two countries have increased after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
