Known for participating in several TV shows over the last few years, the dog Estopinha, owned by animal behavior specialist, zootechnician and veterinarian Alexandre Rossi, is facing health problems. The 14-year-old dog developed a nail infection last week, which left her limping and, after taking medication, with an attack on her stomach.
According to her owner, known as Doctor Pet, she has an intestinal problem, which ended up being aggravated by medication to combat the infected paw. As a result, the dog was left prostrate, unable to walk, without appetite and without drinking water. On Monday (11) she had to be admitted to the hospital to receive fluids and undergo some tests.
“She didn’t wake up very well, she was in a lot of pain, unable to walk or get up. So I decided to take him to the hospital to be admitted and receive all the care. Here she has already taken serum and medication and also had some tests, which we are waiting for the results of. Thank you everyone for your support and affection, you have no idea how important this is. And I ask that you continue to support her and send her good energy and many prayers,” Rossi said on his Instagram profile.
In the early hours of this Tuesday (12), the veterinarian said that he returned home with Estopinha, and that the tests were carried out. “We hugged for a long time and I felt her heart in my hand. I don’t know how much longer she has to live, but as long as she has a chance to recover and enjoy life a little more, I will fight. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the doctors who took care of us”, she said.
This afternoon, in the most recent update, through stories, Rossi thanked all the support he is receiving and that he is facing a very difficult situation, full of opinions from internet users on how to act in the face of the dog’s condition.
“I will explain my conduct. One of them is about letting Estopinha go, letting her die. It’s even difficult to say that word to me. She is visibly suffering. Another point is about the grieving process. They suggested that I cancel my schedule, not do lives and stay with her all the time. She’s having ups and downs, it’s not been easy for her, but we’ve already had the results of several tests. I have felt a lot of welcome and a lot of competence and this helps us make our decisions,” she said.

Estopinha took to social media in 2011 by appearing alongside Rossi on TV Record programs and debuting his Instagram profile, which has 748 thousand followers. She is considered one of the first “pet influencers” from Brazil, also being successful on YouTube videos on a profile he shares with his tutor. There are 285 thousand subscribers there.
Adopted by Rossi and his wife in 2009, when she was almost a year old, the dog, then called Rita, had already been returned twice for having “bad behavior” and being considered a messy little dog.
