Going beyond traditional rodeos, Barretos Cowboy Festival is also marked annually by bringing shows by big names in country music. One of the biggest attractions is the singer Gustavo Lima who received the widely known nickname of “ambassador” because of the festival. The artist, however, stopped attending the event in 2023, also being absent from this year’s program.
Since 2010, the organization has honored a musician and given him the title of ambassador. The position began with Luan Santana, followed by Cristiano Araújo, Henrique & Juliano, Simone & Simaria and Cesar Menotti & Fabiano.
Gusttavo Lima was an “ambassador” for Barretos for two consecutive years, 2017 and 2018. He would also have been responsible for the title in 2020, an edition that did not take place due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19. His last performance at the event took place in 2022. In that edition, Adriano Moraes was chosen.
Since his time in the “position”, Gusttavo Lima has used the slogan “respect the Ambassador” in his shows.

Having not attended the party since 2023, Gusttavo Lima raised doubts among fans after not being announced for the current edition, which takes place from August 15 to 25. CNN, Hussein Gemha Júnior, president of Os Independentes (the club organizing the party), explained that the reason Gusttavo did not attend was, once again, due to cache conflicts .
“Once again, we didn’t reach a price that was good for both parties, for Gusttavo and for Festa do Peão,” he said. “His decision not to come to Barretos is because we couldn’t reach a financial agreement. That’s all.”
Hussein emphasized that the event organizers have great affection for the musician despite this. “He is a good guy, a guy who looks back, who got to where he is on merit. We have a lot of respect for him, especially because he took the name of the event to new heights.”
The president concludes by saying that he hopes to reach a value that the singer agrees with for future editions. CNN sought the singer’s press office, who has not commented on the matter at this time.
The Barretos Cowboy Festival will bring together attractions such as Ana Castela, Luan Santana, Jorge & Mateus, Zezé Di Camargo & Luciano, Chitaozinho and Xororó and Simone Mendes . This year’s ambassador title goes to the duo Cesar Minotti & Fabiano, for the second year in a row.
