«Eternals»: the Rome Film Festival closes with Angelina Jolie

There could not have been a better conclusion: the Rome Film Festival will close this evening with a highly anticipated red carpet. The occasion is the screening of Eternals, the new Marvel movie, directed by the Oscar-winning director Chloe Zhao, brought to the capital in collaboration with Alice nella città.

Eternals is the third film of the Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe which brings an epic story with new heroes to the big screen. The film kicks off after the events that happened in Avengers: Endgame, when an unexpected tragedy forces the Eternals to step out of the shadows and join forces against humanity’s most ancient enemy, the Deviants.

“When Kirby created these characters he decided to go beyond all MCU rules, – explained Zhao at the press conference, – he wanted to show us the narrative world from another point of view. It gave us the opportunity to explore a new universe».

The Eternals are played by a stellar cast that includes Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie.

The American actress, during the presentation conference of the film, explained her character, Thena: “We all have wounds that we carry with us. I have always been very lucky, but I too have a baggage of suffering. And my character also talks about this. I hope it can be inspiring ».

For Richard Madden and Kit Harington it was an opportunity for find themselves on the same set after the experience of Game of thrones: “After ten years of working together it is exciting to meet again, even if only for a few scenes,” said Madden. “We each went our separate ways and then found ourselves,” Harington added.

Eternals will arrive in Italian cinemas, distributed by The Walt Disney Company Italia, Wednesday 3 November.
