Ethanol sales by plants increase 4.87% in February, shows Unica

Ethanol sales by plants in the center-south of Brazil totaled 2.12 billion liters in February, an increase of 4.87% compared to the same period of the 2021/2022 harvest, boosted by exports, according to data from the Union of the Sugarcane Industry (Unica) disclosed this Friday (10).

As for the deals carried out in the domestic market, the volume of hydrous ethanol totaled 1.09 billion liters, down 1.89% compared to the same period of the previous harvest.

Sales of anhydrous ethanol to the domestic market reached 879.76 million liters, a growth of 4.48%.

In the opposite direction to that observed in domestic market sales, the flow of trade related to exports “registered very robust values, especially in the second half of the month”, Unica said.

In February, the sector exported 88.10 million liters of hydrous ethanol, an increase of 49.36% compared to the 2021/2022 harvest, and 67.13 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, an increase of 362%.
