Ethereum 2.0 Developers Launch Bug Bounty Program

Ethereum 2.0 developers announced the launch of a bounty program prior to the Altair hard fork activation.

The initiative aims to search for vulnerabilities in the Beacon Chain, as well as in Lighthouse, Nimbus, Teku and Prysm clients. More clients may be added in the future as the audit progresses. Developers
reportedthat we intend to maximize the security of the Ethereum 2.0 ecosystem to avoid potential issues related to the deployment of the Altair update.

It is recommended that you pay special attention to bugs related to non-compliance of customers with specifications, as well as bugs that can lead to disruption of the system in case of unexpected failures or conducting denial of service (DoS) attacks. In addition, white-hat hackers are required to identify bugs that could provoke a split in consensus in the network.

Bug rewards are calculated based on a point system. Each point is equal to $ 2.2 in DAI or 0.00059 ETH. Points are awarded depending on the severity of the detected errors, which are divided into four categories with low, medium, high and critical levels of difficulty. The reward for them is up to 2,000 DAI, 10,000 DAI, 20,000 DAI and 50,000 DAI, depending on the category. Persons who are personally included in the sanctions lists or citizens of countries that fall under US sanctions are not allowed to participate in the program.

It was revealed last week that the Altair update will be activated on the mainnet at the end of October, although it was slated to launch in the summer.
