Ethereum developers have announced the successful transition of the third and largest Goerli test network to the Proof-of-Stake algorithm. The next step will be the mainnet merger scheduled for September.
According to Ethereum developer Marius van der Wijden, there was confusion during the update due to the creation of two separate and unique terminal blocks. In addition, a large number of hosts have not updated their software, so the migration took longer.
“Looks like a lot of the Erigon client based nodes are a bit stuck on the fork. But, in the end, everything was fixed and earned. I almost got a heart attack, ”the developer joked.
Apparently, after merging with the Bellatrix “signal chain”, the Goerli network works without problems. This is the next step towards the full transition of Ethereum to the Proof-of-Stake (PoS) algorithm.
Earlier, the company behind the USDC stablecoin, Circle, announced its intention to fully support the merger of the Ethereum network and the transition to PoS.
