Analyst company IDC has prepared a report for the fourth quarter of 2021 and for the full year, summarizing the statistical data characterizing the state of the enterprise-level switches and routers market.
Analysts estimate that in the fourth quarter of 2021, sales of switches increased by 11.8% compared to the same period in 2020 and reached $8.5 billion. Switch sales for all of 2021 were $30.7 billion. This is 9.7% more than in 2020.
Enterprise-grade routers sold $4.6 billion during the quarter, representing a 7.0% year-on-year growth. For the full year, routers were sold for $15.9 billion, up 6.5% from 2020.
The industry leader is Cisco. At the end of the year, it owns 45.3% of the switch market and 34.6% of the router market. In second place is Huawei. The top five also includes Arista Networks, H3C and HPE.
