THE European Union announced the increase financial support to the Mozambican Armed Forcesfacing jihadist activity in its northern part, with a European Council press release representing the leaders of the 27.
The extra help EUR 45 million increases the support that has been decided to be provided under it “European Mechanism for Peace”στα 89 million euros from November 2021is specified in the press release.
It is intended to fund the equipment – individual and unit level – of the eleven Mozambican Army battalions participating in the EU Training Mission (EUTM) program in Mozambique, which received the green light in 2021.

The north Mozambique plagued by violence by jihadist organizations since the end of 2017.
Supporting the Mozambican Armed Forces, Rwanda and other countries of the Southern African Development Community (KAMA) have deployed more than 3,000 troops since July 2021 in the predominantly Muslim area, which borders Tanzania.
