EU car registrations fell 21% in April

Ongoing pressures on the supply chain led to a sharp drop in new car registrations in the European Union in April, according to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).

Overall new vehicle registrations fell 21% year-on-year to 684,506 vehicles.

This is the lowest volume recorded in April, except in April 2020, due to the pandemic.

“Issues with the supply chain continue to have a significant impact on car production,” the union said.

All major markets reported a decline, with Italy recording the largest (33%).

Similarly, almost all major automakers fell, with Stellantis down 32%.
