The European Commission today disbursed an additional € 289 million in emergency macro-financial assistance to Ukraine and approved a grant of € 120 million.
The disbursements follow a € 300 million disbursement a week ago, which was the start of the first € 600 million tranche of a total of € 1.2 billion in emergency financial assistance to Ukraine.
According to the Commission, the emergency macro-financial assistance program will help strengthen Ukraine’s macroeconomic stability in the context of Russia’s unprovoked and unwarranted invasion. It represents a concrete proof of the EU ‘s unwavering support for Ukraine. These first disbursements follow the rapid adoption of the Commission proposal for a new emergency program by the Council and the European Parliament. The remaining funds (EUR 600 million) will be disbursed later this year, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the EU and Ukraine.
