The EU Council adopted a legislative act today allowing Member States to receive a total of € 3.5 billion this year, depending on the number of refugees from the Ukraine hosting.
The pre-financing to be paid in 2022 under REACT-EU will increase from 11% to 15% for all Member States, and from 11% to 45% for EU countries where the number of arrivals from Ukraine amounted to over 1% of their population at the end of the first month following the Russian invasion.
In addition, the legislative act introduces the option of unit costs per person to simplify the mobilization of funds, which allows to more effectively address the basic needs of the displaced from Ukraine and provide basic assistance to them, said the correspondent of the Athenian-Macedonian Special Agency.
These amendments are intended to unload the Member States’ public budgets so that they can better manage the inflow refugees.
This act introduces amendments to increase the pre-financing of the Cohesion and Regions of Europe Recovery Assistance (REACT-EU), one of the largest programs created for the post-pandemic recovery, to strengthen the funds Cohesion Policy and the European Aid Fund for the Needy (TEVA).
