The Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, Jozef Síkela, said on his Twitter account that the energy ministers of the European Union (EU), who met this Tuesday, 25, in Luxembourg, should meet again in a emergency meeting on November 24th.
“Today’s meeting of the Council of Energy Ministers showed that our efforts to secure the approval of the package of measures to reduce energy prices proposed by the European Commission last week are on the right track”, highlighted the minister.
According to Síkela, the forecast is that one of the measures that will be discussed is about separating the price of gas from the price of electricity.
With the energy crisis caused mainly by the war in Ukraine and the decision by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to reduce oil supplies by 2 million barrels a day, Europe has been looking for measures to lower energy bills.
In recent months, Russian President Vladimir Putin has been cutting off gas supplies to Europe through Nord Stream pipelines.
