EU for vaccination certificates: Prevent discrimination against those who have not been vaccinated

The digital vaccination certificates The European Union (EU) must “prevent discrimination” against those who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19 and will also include information on tests and patients’ recovery, according to a draft obtained by Reuters.

Under this draft, it is up to the 27 EU member states to decide whether they would be willing to lift travel restrictions only for those vaccinated with drugs which have been approved for the whole of the Union by the European Medicines Agency (Core) or and for those who have been vaccinated with vaccines, the use of which is only allowed in certain countries.

Hungary and Slovakia have already purchased the Russian Sputnik vaccine, although it has not been licensed by Coreper.

The European Commission is set to present its final proposal for the certificates next week, and southern countries based on tourism hope this will open up this summer.
