Euler Finance hack is ready for dialogue with developers

The hacker who hacked the Euler Finance DeFi protocol contacted the project developers via on-chain messages.

The company CertiK, which specializes in blockchain security, has published screenshots of the correspondence.

“We want to resolve the situation for all those affected. We have no intention of appropriating what does not belong to us. Let’s establish a secure connection and come to an agreement, ”wrote the hacker.

Euler representatives responded to the message and offered to contact via EOA or email. The company added that they are ready to listen to the wishes of the cracker.

Official statements from representatives of the project have not yet followed.

On March 13, an attacker illegally withdrew more than $196 million worth of assets from the DeFi platform.

After the incident, the Euler Finance team blocked the vulnerable EToken module, contacted law enforcement agencies, as well as Chainalysis and TRM Labs for help in the investigation. The project required the hacker to return 90% of the stolen funds.

Since there was no response, the company posted a $1 million reward for any information leading to the burglar’s arrest.

The hacker later sent ~$2.5 million worth of cryptocurrency to the Tornado Cash mixer. Lookonchain analysts also reported that the attacker moved 100 ETH to the address of the Lazarus Group associated with the attack on the Ronin network in March 2022.

In early March 2023, the DeFi protocol hacker Tender.fi returned the withdrawn assets in exchange for a reward of 62.16 ETH. In total, the hacker managed to withdraw $1.59 million from the platform.
