EUR/USD likely at risk of heading towards 1.0800 zone ahead of FOMC – ING

EUR/USD finished lower on Tuesday despite a bounce from the ZEW survey of German investors, which returned to levels last seen in early 2022. ING economists analyze the pair's outlook ahead of the FOMC meeting.

Most likely, positioning ahead of the FOMC meeting is dominating and the dollar is playing a bit of catch-up with last week's short-term rate hike.

From the Eurozone, today we have five speeches from the European Central Bank. Among them, Christine Lagarde, Isabel Schnabel and Philip Lane. A repeat of the message that more data is needed before the ECB can seriously consider a rate cut at the June meeting is expected.
