Europe turns its back on AstraZeneca vaccine: “It is possible that it will not renew the contracts”

Its complications AstraZeneca vaccine, but and Johnson & Johnson, have caused concern and now the EUSR is considering not renewing contracts with the former.

French Industry Minister Agnès Panier-Rinasser said on Friday that European Union may not renew vaccine contracts with Covid-19 with AstraZeneca.

“The decision has not been made,” but after Denmark’s decision not to use the vaccine, “Europe is more likely not to renew orders,” the minister told RMC radio.

“We have not started talks with Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca for a new contract, where we have talks with Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna.”

«We have a portfolio of mRNA vaccines that works very well “and they have few side effects, we will have new vaccines, if all goes well, of Novavax, Sanofi, which are protein-boosting vaccines, which have very good results and we have a 50-year delay in this kind of technology”, he explained, as broadcast by French Agency and rebroadcasts the Athenian News Agency.

“These vaccines will arrive in the second half, so we will have multiple doses on many platforms that will allow us to meet all the needs.”

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said this week that Pfizer-BioNTech has proven to be a “reliable partner that has kept its commitments and met our needs”, in contrast to AstraZeneca traditions.
