European Central Bank: the rates are at a neutral level, there is no reason to become accommodations – Robert Holzmann

The person in charge of the European Central Bank policy, Robert Holzmann, who disied in the ECB’s decision to cut the key rates in 25 basic points after the March meeting, argued on Wednesday that they do not need to become more accommodations, according to Reuters.

“We had assumed that inflation would decrease,” said Holzmann. “As we are neutral and inflation is converging towards the goal, there is no reason to become accommodations.”

These comments do not seem to have a remarkable impact on the performance of the euro against its main rivals. At the time of publication, EUR/USD rose 0.25% in the day to 1,0820.
