Germany Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Sunday that he, along with the leaders of the United Kingdom, France and Poland, intended to talk to Donald Trump before the planned connection with Russian President Vladimir Putin next Monday (19).
Merz said he discussed the issue with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, while the two attended the inaugural mass of Pope Leo XIV in the Vatican.
He said he also talked a lot with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Vatican.
“I talked to Marco Rubio, including tomorrow’s call. We agreed to talk again with the four state leaders and the US president in preparation for this conversation [com Putin]”Merz told reporters.
Donald Trump published on Truth social network that he will talk to Vladimir Putin by telephone on Monday (19) at 10 am (local time).
