In fourth place is Greece, after Spain, France and Italy as the most popular holiday destination to the European public for a next trip abroad. This was shown by a large survey conducted by the European Travel Commission (ETC), which was conducted on a sample of 4,463 European travelers.
Neither inflation nor high energy costs are stopping Europeans’ appetite for travel this year, according to the Monitoring Sentiment For Domestic And Intra-European Travel survey.
The data are indicative:
73% of Europeans surveyed plan to travel in the next 6 months, of which 60% plan to travel more than once.
84% of travelers plan to make a trip from June to September, with great interest in Mediterranean destinations.
• The war in Ukraine did not affect holiday plans for 44% of Europeans, while it caused 31% to make some changes to the original plans, while only 4% completely canceled their trip.
• More than a third of Europeans say their travel plans are not affected by the coronavirus.
Greece is the fourth most popular destination destination for Germans with an 8% share, after Italy, Spain and Austria. It is also the fourth choice of English tourists with a share of 7%, after Spain, Italy and France and the third most popular destination for the French, Italians and Poles.
The survey also showed that 39% of Europeans will take a family vacation in the next six months and 37% will travel with their partner. 47% will take a plane to their next vacation destination, while 38% will go by road.
Holidays of 4-6 nights are the most popular (34%), followed by 7-9 nights (27%). 31% of respondents plan to invest 500-1,000 euros per person in their upcoming trip. More than half of European travelers (52%) prefer to stay in hotels, while they are interested in short-term rentals.
Finally, the most popular forms of vacation in Europe for the summer of 2022 are the sun-sea (22%), nature (15%) and city breaks city break (15%).
