European Union says he wants evidence that Russia has stopped attacks in Ukraine

The European Union reacted with caution to the announcement of Russian President Vladimir Putin, about the 30-hour Easter cease in Ukraine.

“Russia has a history of aggressor, so we first need to see an effective interruption of aggression and clear actions for a lasting ceasefire,” said Anitta Hipper, the European Commission for Foreign Commission and Security.

The block representative added that it has been over a month since Ukraine agreed with an unconditional ceasefire.

“Russia could interrupt this war at any time if it really wanted to … we continue to support Ukraine for a long, just and comprehensive peace.”

Temporary truce

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Saturday (19) a temporary ceasefire during the Easter holiday in Ukraine.

According to the Russian government, the truce should start from 18h (local time) this Saturday until 00h on Monday (21).

“Based on humanitarian considerations … The Russian side announces a truce of Easter. I order the suspension of all military activities during this period,” Putin told his military chief Valery Gerasimov at a Kremlin meeting.

A Ukrainian authority stated on Saturday (19) that Russian forces continued to open fire against Ukrainian positions, despite the proclamation of Putin’s temporary ceasefire.
