Europol’s decisive blow to a Balkan drug cartel – They hunted the dealers for four years

The Spanish agency, “Guardia Civil”, in collaboration with Europol, managed to dismantle a huge drug network, after four years of operational coordination. 40 people were arrested and eight tons of cocaine were seized. As reported by the British newspaper Guardian, the investigation found that a Balkan cartel was using logistics hubs in West Africa and the Canary Islands to transport cocaine from South America to European Union countries. When the drugs arrived in Europe, they were trafficked across the Old Continent via distribution centers in Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Italy and Spain.
