Eurostat: 14% of households with children in the EU are single parents – 9% in Greece

In 2020, the EU had 195.4 million households, of which almost a third (29%) had children living with them. About 14% of households with children (7.8 million households) in the EU were single parent, according to Eurostat data.

The percentage of unmarried parents varies considerably from country to country.

Six countries recorded a percentage single-parent households (among all households with children), more than 20%. Sweden comes first (34%,) followed by Denmark (29%), Estonia (28%), Latvia and Lithuania (25%) and France (21%).

By contrast, the lowest rates of single-parent households were recorded in Croatia (5%), Romania (7%) and Finland (8%), while Greece, Slovakia, Malta, Poland, Spain and Slovenia recorded 9%. %.
