The Eurovision of Turin begins. And judging by the Turquoise carpet, where the 40 delegations of the competing artists paraded (there must have been 41, then Russia was excluded after the invasion of Ukraine), we will see some good ones. The two semifinals, 10 and 12, and then the grand final, on the 14th, with ours Mahmood, Blanco and theirs Chills. Turin (and beyond) is already celebrating. At the Reggia di Venaria, a dreamlike backdrop, they came from all over the world for the first red carpet, here dyed light blue for the occasion.
Flags in hand and a lot of emotion for the ceremony, live on RaiPlay and hosted by Gabriele Corsi, Mario Acampa and Carolina Di Domenico. The competition is dedicated to peace, and the representatives of Kiev were greeted by loud applause. There Kalush Orchestra is competing with Stefania, a song that mixes rap with tradition, dedicated to the mother of the singer of the group, even if after the outbreak of the war it took on an even stronger meaning. “I dedicated it to my mom, but now it takes on more and more meanings and people like it because the family in Ukraine is very important,” they said during the first press conference. It’s still: “Being here, with the permission of our country, is a great responsibility, that of being able to be useful to our nation also with music”.
Eurovision returned to Italy after 30 years thanks to Maneskin and their victory. Now the band will be guests of the final, on the 14th, the evening in which they will present the new single, Supermodel, released the day before. On 10 and 12, on the other hand, it’s up to the rest of the world: on air on Rai1 there will be the two seminals to determine who will go to the final together with the Big Five, namely Italy, Germany, France, Spain and the United Kingdom, founding countries of the Eurovision.
And already, at the first show, the cheering for the Italian duet seems to be strong. But this edition holds a lot of other Italy together. There is Achille Lauro, who decided to compete with San Marino. Her song is Stripper. Emma Muscaton the other hand, she is Albanian, but in Italy she became famous after participating in Friends. He sings, he explained, “a hymn of love for oneself”.
On the other hand, the three shows will be Laura Pausini, Alessandro Cattelan And Mika. The countdown has begun.
