Eurovision: Kyiv reacts to EBU decision not to award next edition

THE Ukrainewhich won this year ‘s song contest Eurovisioncriticized the EBU decision not to award it the next event for security reasons, because of Russian invasion.

Ukraine does not agree with the decision taken by the European Broadcasting Union, said the Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tachenko and called for negotiations to organize the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in his country.

Traditionally, the winning country of the competition is hosting the event next year, but earlier today the EBU announced that the upcoming competition could not be hosted in Ukraine due to the ongoing war and added that it was in talks with the BBC to move the event to United Kingdom.

Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra won this year’s Eurovision Song Contest with the UK song securing second place.
