Eurozone: Inflation rises 2.6% annually in February, in line with expectations

He Eurozone Consumer Price Index (CPI) moderated to 2.6% in the year-on-year reading for February from 2.8% in January, as reported by Eurostat. The figure meets market expectations, registering its lowest increase in three months.

On a monthly basis, the CPI met expectations and increased by 0.6% after falling 0.4% in January. This is its biggest rise since April 2023.

The Annual core inflation stood at 3.1% in February compared to the previous 3.3%, in line with expectations. This is the lowest rate recorded by the indicator in almost two yearssince March 2022. The monthly core CPI rose 0.7% after falling 0.9% the previous month, experiencing its largest rise in 10 months.

Euro reaction

EUR/USD has not reacted to the data, moving near the two-day high previously reached at 1.0900. At the time of writing, the pair is trading above 1.0898, gaining 0.09% on the day.
