Eurozone: Unemployment fell to 6.6% in July, Greece to 11.4%

Unemployment fell in July in the Eurozone, despite shocks to the European economy from the war in Ukraine and the rally in inflation.

In particular, the unemployment rate fell to 6.6% in July from 6.7% in June and 7.7% in July 2021. In the E.U. unemployment fell to 6% from 6.1% in June and 6.9% a year earlier, as Eurostat announced today.

According to the estimates of the European Statistical Service, there are 12,959 million unemployed in the EU. of which 10.983 million in the Eurozone. Compared to June, the number of unemployed decreased by 113,000 people in the EU. and by 77,000 people in the Eurozone, while compared to July 2021, it decreased by 1.854 million and by 1.576 million respectively.

For Greece, Eurostat data showed unemployment fell to 11.4% in July, from 12.3% in June and 14.3% a year earlier.
