EV Greece: Strong growth in the last decade, with a focus on people

A significant increase of 215% of its human resources in Greece was recorded by EV during the last decade, along with its consolidation as a leading company providing consulting, auditing, tax services and corporate strategy and trading services in the Greek market.

Despite the ten-year economic crisis and the contraction of the size of the Greek economy that characterized that period, EV increased the total number of employees, from 540 in 2011, to almost 1,700 employees in 2021, and is estimated to reach 2,000 by during 2022. Through the expansion of its activities and its enrichment with new innovative services, EV has created over 1,100 new, quality jobs for young scientists and professionals, thus contributing not only to the reduction, but and in reversing the brain drain. It is noted that, only in 2021, EY hired 30 Greek scientists and professionals working in foreign countries, with a strategic plan to attract many more in the coming years.

At the same time, in 2021, in addition to its headquarters in Athens and its offices in Thessaloniki, EY expanded its activity in Western Greece, announcing the operation of new offices in Patras.

At the same time, EV gave the possibility of internship to 450 students, of whom 45% accepted a proposal of cooperation from the company after the completion of their internship. In addition, in recent years, the company has supported excellent students by providing scholarships and supporting them in completing their studies.

Development and evolution

EY places great emphasis on the development of its people, through a number of programs that support their professional development, help them achieve their goals, equip them with the necessary skills for the future of work and allow them to acquire a comprehensive, unique work experience. These programs include:

– The EY Badges program, which provides the opportunity for EV executives to obtain free digital diplomas in skills focused on the future, such as data visualization, artificial intelligence and robotic process automation (RPA). To date, 522 EY Badges have been awarded in Greece – of which 241 during 2021.

– The EV Tech MBA, which is the first fully accredited corporate MBA in the world, and the EY Masters in Business Analytics, which are awarded by the Hult International Business School and are available to all EY employees completely free of charge.

In total, since 2016, almost € 6 million have been invested by EV Greece in training and professional development programs (Learning & Development). At the same time, the people of EV in Greece have free access to four libraries (EY, Udemy, SkillSoft and GlobeSmart) with learning objects focused on the needs of each executive.

Emphasis on diversity and integration

Like the global EY organization, EV Greece remains true to its vision of creating a non-discriminatory inclusive work world, and supports Diversity & Inclusiveness. The company has today achieved equal gender representation, with 48% of the total number of employees being women.

At the same time, EY has set a strategic goal to significantly increase the percentage of women in senior and senior management positions (Partners, Associate Partners and Directors), from the current rate of 20%, to 50% over the next five years. This effort is supported by substantial actions to empower women in the workplace and reconcile their professional lives with the multiple responsibilities and responsibilities they are called upon to take on in their personal lives.

At the same time, EV emphasizes the personal well-being and health of its people through initiatives that cover physical and mental health and promote the balance between professional and personal / family responsibilities. These include, inter alia, wellness sessions that emphasize diversity, parenting lessons, and initiatives that promote flexible working. To date, 76 such activities have been carried out, with over 1,350 participants.

The pandemic experience was the catalyst for the transition to new models of work and collaboration. Preparing for the future of work, and in the context of the wider digital transformation of the economy, EY Greece recently launched a new, hybrid work model, which, with the help of technology, allows its people to work and grow more flexibly and safety than ever before, offering them a unique work experience that marries the pre-COVID-19 work world with the world of work of tomorrow.

Creating long-term value for everyone

In addition to its own people, however, in the context of the global corporate social responsibility program “EY Ripples” – which aims to positively affect the lives of one billion people by 2030 – EY Greece has developed important actions, with emphasis on supporting the next Indicatively, through the actions of more than 70 volunteers of EY Greece, during the financial year 2021 it is estimated that approximately 91,000 lives were positively affected in Greece and abroad.
