“The subsidies announced by the Minister of Environment and Energy, Costas Skrekas, offer an immediate, albeit temporary, solution to the ongoing problem of increased electricity and gas bills,” said in a statement the president of EVEA, Giannis Bratakos, commenting on new support measures announced today by the government.
“The expansion of subsidies to businesses and professionals and their horizontalization, practically and inclusively alleviates all sectors of trade and industry, covering a significant part of the increases in non-household tariffs”, notes Mr. Bratakos and adds:
“In addition, the ongoing suspension of payments of Utilities to support mid-trend companies until November and the intention of the government and the relevant ministry to consider, in cooperation with the European Competition Commission, the adjustment of the subsidy per professional sector and depending on the gravity of energy costs in the operation of companies, gives us hope for the satisfaction of our request for the implementation of a mechanism for the reduction of SGI, according to the model of ETMEAR reduction.
The Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, maintaining the role of the state institutional advisor and recognizing the risk posed by the global energy crisis for the smooth operation of businesses and economic recovery, has put forward proposals for the further shielding of Greek entrepreneurship from expecting that their strategy and careful implementation will be a bulwark for the protection of businesses and the national economy. ”
