Mediascope published data on visits to the social network Instagram (owned by Meta, recognized as an extremist organization in Russia and banned) in Russia after blocking.
In the first week after blocking Instagram in Russia, the time spent by Russians on the social network decreased three times – from 33 minutes to 11 minutes, the daily coverage decreased from 33% to 20%.
The amount of time users spent on Instagram dropped noticeably more than the reach of those resources. This can be explained by the fact that after blocking, people may habitually log into social networks, but since nothing happens and is not updated there, they immediately exit. The decrease in time on resources can be interpreted as a decrease in the audience. The audience consists of two indicators: the number of people who come (reach) and the time they spend there. Coverage usually drops more slowly than time due to the habit of opening apps. In recent days, we have also recorded a decrease in coverage.

According to the GlobalCheck service, which monitors the availability of IP addresses and domains using different protocols from different Internet providers, after March 14, the availability of Instagram in Russia has fluctuated from 8 to 15% over the past ten days.
In an interview with RBC, Andrey Klishas, head of the Federation Council committee on state construction, said that there are no plans to introduce prosecution for the use of VPN services at the legislative level, but they will continue to block resources.
