Even Discord is working on its own version of Clubhouse

Clubhouse and its concept have conquered the whole world. During the period of quarantine restrictions, this Internet service has become an ideal platform for communication for many users. In order to stay in trend, large companies have started to create alternative versions of the program. For example, Facebook and Telegram announced the development of such platforms, and Twitter has already announced the Twitter Spaces application. However, the list does not end there. In the race for popularity, a new player has appeared – Discord.

Previously, the messenger already offered audio and video chat on separate servers, but the platform was intended for a small audience. Now there is information about the creation of a completely new type of channel, which will be called Stage Channel. This was reported by Arol Wright, an XDA developer, on Reddit. The programmer claims that he got beta access to the new feature on Discord.

According to the developer, the new system will be linked to the existing text, voice and news channels. It will be an enhanced application for a wider audience. In the Stage Channel, separate rooms will be created in which several presenters can have a conversation, and authorized users will have the right to join the discussion, and not just listen to it. However, in the Clubhouse the same principle of work.

At the moment, a new Discord feature is in development, it is not yet ready for active use. However, given the speed at which Clubhouse is popularizing, there is no doubt that the Discord team is hard at work on the new program. Perhaps, users will soon see the announcement of the Stage Channel.

Active Reddit users find Diskord’s new development a pretty useful feature. Especially for streamers who want to be with listeners in the same virtual room, but do not want the latter to “interfere” in the conversation.

In connection with the emergence of similar applications from large companies, Clubhouse announced a new Creator First program. The app will provide financial assistance and expert support to select contributors. Insiders believe that in this way the company plans to maintain the leading position of Clubhouse among users.
