EVER GREEN container ship stuck case became the basis of hardcore indie game

Indie developer Napas Torteeka has released WHATEVER, based on the case of the stuck container ship Ever Given. In March 2021, he ran aground in the Suez Canal and thereby blocked it for 6 days – this was a big blow to world trade, since this waterway accounts for a significant share of maritime traffic (10% – according to information from 2009). Ever Given paralyzed the canal for 6 days: by the last day, a queue of more than 450 different ships had formed, and every hour of downtime cost world trade $ 400 million.

The case with Ever Green became just the basis for WHATEVER – there are 9 levels in the game with different locations and 2 bosses (apparently, with Godzilla and UFOs). The main difficulty lies in calculating the inertia, since the waterways are narrow and the control of a ship weighing 200,000 tons promises to be difficult – the ship is constantly skidding. Also, the trailer and screenshots show various additional obstacles like a whirlpool, spring platform and abyssal stones.

Ever Green is currently available on Steam as part of Early Access.
