The retailer “M.Video-Eldorado” has shared interesting statistics on the entire Russian market of gaming laptops and accessories for the first half of 2021.
The demand for gaming laptops increased by 27% in units compared to January-June last year. At the same time, the laptop market as a whole has a stable situation without such outbursts. Interest in gaming monitors increased by 30% in unit terms, in mice, keyboards and headsets – by 15%, and computer chairs became 75% more popular.
According to analysts, the growth of the gaming segment is due to the more “home” lifestyle of Russians in the last year and the increased popularity of home entertainment.
For the first half of 2021, 250 thousand pieces of gaming laptops were sold, in money terms the growth was 55% – up to 25 billion rubles. The most popular manufacturers among Russians are Asus, Lenovo, Acer, HP and MSI.
In total, about 1.4 million laptops were sold in Russia for more than 80 billion rubles. Thus, every fifth laptop purchased on the Russian market is a gaming laptop, a year ago the share of gaming models in laptops was 13%, and in 2019 it was about 8%.
Oleg Reznikov, head of the Home Office and Photo Department, M.Video-Eldorado, explained:
The gaming categories continue to grow despite buoyant demand in 2020 and are showing positive momentum thanks to better performance, functionality and striking design. For example, gaming laptops and monitors are universal – they are purchased not only for gaming, but also in your “home office”. Powerful graphics cards that come with gaming laptops allow you to solve various user tasks, for example, work with video, photo processing and other graphics programs. “
